LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

LOCATION:
Bali Marina is centrally located on Bali only 12 kilometers from the Bali International Airport. We are halfway between the tourist towns of Sanur and Kuta for shopping & fun. 60 kilometers from the famous Ubud - the Arts & Crafts Capital. We have most every service imaginable from discount provisions to electronic repairs. If you can't find it in Bali, just ask our information desk -- we can !

SAILING APPROACHES:
The Benoa harbor leads begin at the Sea Buoy at 8°45'14 S, 115°14'55 E. Follow the leads (just below a lone palm tree on the hill above) --on a course of 255True, past buoys #1 and #2 to the beginning of the dog-leg channel. Maintain a course close to the Red (left) side channel markers (stay clear of all Green markers). Continue 30 meters past the last Buoy #8 before turning North - (staying close to the main ship wharf - portside) - to the Marina, located at 8°44'28"S and 115°12'48"E. We do not recommend night time approaches without prior experience -- Very dim navigation lights against a bright background. We recommend a slack-tide arrival if possible. In fact, the port is officially closed at sundown if you're concerned about your yacht insurance.

Please don't hesitate to call on VHF 77 for our assistance. We're here for you !

THE FORMALITIES:
Upon arrival, the Indonesian Government requires all Yachts to have, in their possession, several documents:

A Passport valid for more than six months (check your expiration date)

A "CAIT" (or Security Clearance). Fortunately, BALI MARINA can process and re-new the CAIT at the lowest cost ANYWHERE ! (This is the beginning of our promise of Excellent Service to you.)
PLAN AHEAD! The process takes 4 weeks. The CAIT is issued for 90 days. If you wish to stay longer in Indonesia -- NO PROBLEM. We can process another CAIT.

After 1 February 2004, A TOURIST VISA will be issued on arrival for 30 days for US$25.00 for 21 selected countries.
USA, Australia, S.Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, UAE, Finland, Hungary, UK, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, S.Korea, Norway, France, Poland, Switzerland, New Zealand & Thailand. Countries not on this list must apply for a visa at the nearest offshore consulate.
Tourist visas will be issued at selected gateways: Airports: Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, JKT, Surabaya, Bali & Manado.

Seaports: Batam, Tanjung Uban (Bintan), Belawan (Medan), Sibolga (Sumatra), Dumai, Teluk Bayar (Padang, Sumatra), Padang Bai (Bali) and Jayapura (Papua). Yachts arriving in Kupang or Benoa Harbor may only receive a 'ship's crew'. A Social Budaya Visa will be necessary.

We strongly recommend that all yachts apply for A SOCIAL BUDAYA VISA ~~ with our sponsor letter and CAIT in hand, you will receive a Visa good for 60 days at the nearest Indonesian Consulate (in Darwin, the consulate fee is A$125.00). This visa is extendable each month for up to 6 months total. We charge US$25.00 per boat for a sponsor letter.
For yachts departing Australia, we offer a Combo Package,
CAIT, Sponsor letter & free port clearance in/out of Benoa for A$225.00. In Australia, simply deposit the fee in our Commonwealth Bank. (see the CAIT page on this web site)

A Crew List which matches the names and passport numbers on your "CAIT" will be issued on arrival. We strongly suggest that all crew and/or visitors to sail with the boat in Indonesia are listed on the CAIT before hand.

NOTE: "Yachts under 18 tons only need to check into the country at the first port of entry and out of the country at the last sea port". (thanks to the efforts of Bali Marina and the Royal Bali Yacht Club)
